Nothing Phone (1) Android 13 Closed Beta Testing Begins Today, Open Beta Roll Out Will Begin in Two Weeks

Carl Pei has been teasing the NothingOS 1.5 for the Nothing Phone (1) for the last couple of weeks. To those unaware, the upcoming NothingOS 1.5 for the Nothing Phone (1) is based on Android 13. Now, Carl Pei has announced the Android 13 based NothingOS Closed Beta rollout will start today. The company is aiming at releasing the NothingOS 1.5 Open Beta update in the next two weeks. Carl took it to Twitter to announce Android 13 based NothingOS update timelines.

To those unaware, Nothing had earlier announced that it will release Android 13 stable update for the Nothing Phone (1) in early 2023. Whereas, the company aimed at releasing Android 13 Beta for the Phone (1) by the end of 2022. Looks like Nothing is right on track and will deliver the update within the promised timeline.

Carl has not yet shared the process to register for the Android 13 closed beta update. Also, it is not clear if the company plans to include Nothing Phone (1) users in Android 13 closed beta testing or not. Carl has also not specified the regions in which the company is commencing the Android 13 closed beta update for the Nothing Phone (1). Though, we can expect the Nothing Phone (1) Android 13 open beta testing to be available for Nothing Phone (1) users across the globe in the coming days, as promised by Carl.

Since the launch, Nothing has been quite aggressive when it comes to rolling out firmware updates. The brand has managed to roll out as many as eight software updates within four months of launch. The Nothing Phone (1) was also amongst the first smartphones in the segment to get Jio 5G support in India.

Nothing Phone (1): Specifications and Features

Nothing launched the Nothing Phone (1) back in July in India and other global markets. The Nothing Phone (1) is the company’s first smartphone and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ processor. The smartphone comes paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The handset boots Android 12 with NothingOS 1.0 skin on top.

The Nothing Phone (1) offers a 50MP dual-rear camera setup that includes a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary shooter and a 50MP Samsung JN1 ultra-wide-angle sensor. At the front, it features a 16MP shooter inside a punch-hole notch that resides on the top left corner of the display. The smartphone features a 120Hz OLED display with 1200nits peak brightness and Corning Gorilla Glass protection.
