Microsoft is testing a new widgets feature for its Edge browser. According to a new report, the company is testing a news and weather widget on the Microsoft Edge browser.

Microsoft Bing will be used to deliver the latest information. The report from Windows Latest suggests that news widget for Microsoft Edge is based on the same approach as the Windows 10 upcoming taskbar news and weather feed. It will show users their personalised briefing with current popular stories relevant to the user’s interests and/ or location.

The report further reveals that users can still access the widget after closing the browser. They will be required to click on the icon floating over the desktop and other Windows apps.

Currently, Microsoft is testing the news and weather widgets. The company could soon introduce more widgets later this year. The web widget is a part of a Controlled Feature Roll-out (CFR) so only a subset of users have it available at this time.
