  • X will start offering paid features for free to a small set of eligible users.
  • It will allow users to edit posts and get the verified badge without actually paying for the subscription.

X (formerly Twitter) has announced new criteria where users can get Premium features for free but there’s a catch; this will be based on the number of verified followers. Elon Musk announced the new update on his official X profile. Let’s have a look if you are eligible to get X Premium for free.

X Announces Free Premium For Eligible Users

Under the new guidelines, any user with 2500 verified followers who have purchased X Premium is eligible to get Premium features for free. Furthermore, if a user has over 5000 followers with a paid subscription of X, they can access Premium+ for free.

The difference between the two tiers of the subscription is that X Premium offers the verified badge, edit feature, and longer posts. Premium+ comes with all the features from the base tier, and offers additional features like no ads, writing articles, reply boost, access to Grok AI and other creator tools, and more.

In India, X Premium is priced at Rs 650/month or Rs 6800/year, whereas X Premium Plus is available at Rs 1300/month or Rs 13,600/year. If you meet the new requirements, you can get access to these subscriptions for free.

Another noteworthy feature of X Premium is that users can also get access to the revenue-sharing program of the platform. An X Premium user is eligible to get a small part of ad revenue if there are 5 million organic impressions within 3 months with a minimum follower count of at least 500. However, Elon has not specified the eligibility of users getting X Premium for free with the new criteria in the revenue-sharing program. More details over the same are still awaited.

Ever since acquiring Twitter in April 2022, Elon Musk has been exploring ways to monetize the platform. Under his leadership, the app saw a major rebrand from Twitter to X and also witnessed a spree of new features like edit posts, longer posts, video calls, and more.
