OPPO Find X9 Pro First Impression: Confident Design Shift

Over the past few years, OPPO’s flagship series has been on a quiet but determined journey toward refinement. Starting with the Find X5 Pro’s design breakthroughs and continuing through the Find X7’s imaging maturity, the brand has gradually evolved from chasing headline specs to crafting experiences that feel cohesive and purposeful. The Find X9 Pro is a natural progression of that idea. It doubles down on the camera experience, redefines the design language, and introduces a smoother, more connected version of ColorOS that feels built for the hardware. The device brings back its celebrated partnership with Hasselblad, a collaboration that has matured over time and feels more purposeful this year. You can sense it immediately in the way the camera setup is presented.

At its core, this is a device that reflects OPPO’s philosophy of steady evolution rather than loud reinvention. There are no gimmicks or showy hardware experiments here, just a deep focus on things that matter to users who care about everyday reliability, premium design, and consistent photographic results.

Design

The Find X9 Pro marks a confident design shift. OPPO has moved away from the circular camera module that once defined the Find lineup, replacing it with a sharp square camera island that feels more modern and purposeful.

OPPO explained that this change was driven by usability feedback, as users often ended up smudging or partially covering the lenses with their fingers. The updated layout fixes that while giving the back panel a more contemporary look that aligns with other high-end smartphones.

Two new physical buttons make their debut here. The first is the Snap Key, a customisable shortcut button that can be programmed to launch apps or tools like the voice recorder, flashlight, sound profiles, translation, or screenshots. The second is the Quick Button, carried over from the Find X8 series, designed for instant access to the camera. Both buttons feel well integrated into the chassis and add to the phone’s convenience.

In terms of protection, OPPO has gone all out. The Find X9 Pro comes with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, making it one of the very few smartphones to offer all three on a single device. This adds a strong layer of peace of mind for users who want durability alongside design finesse.

The phone is available in Silk White and Titanium Charcoal colourways. The Titanium Charcoal variant, which I have been using, feels like a perfect choice for those who prefer understated flagships. It is subtle, classy, and feels new without being flashy. Despite its large frame, the Find X9 Pro never feels bulky. At just 8.25mm thick and packing a massive 7500mAh battery, the proportions are spot-on. The build quality is top class, and every curve feels precisely milled.

On the front, OPPO has used a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1272×2772 pixels resolution. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and can hit a peak brightness of 3600 nits, ensuring excellent outdoor visibility and vibrant colour reproduction. The panel feels sharp, bright, and incredibly fluid to use, whether you are scrolling, gaming, or watching HDR content.

The silicone case in the box deserves a small mention too. It offers great grip and decent protection, although the fit is so snug that charging the phone with it on can be slightly challenging. It is a minor quirk in an otherwise polished design experience.

Camera

Hasselblad’s influence on colour science and portrait tuning is apparent from the first few captures. This partnership, which started a few years ago, has matured into something that feels native to OPPO’s system rather than an external collaboration. While the complete verdict on imaging will come after extended testing, early impressions suggest that OPPO has successfully brought back that “pro-grade” confidence that its Find X series has long been known for.

The camera setup now sits within the refined square island, featuring a 50-megapixel primary (23mm) lens, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide (15mm) lens, and a 200-megapixel periscope (70mm) lens for zoom photography. On the front, there’s a 50-megapixel selfie camera.

As you can see from our test shots, the results are nothing short of impressive. The picture quality is top notch across lighting conditions. Even in low light, the camera preserves details and textures remarkably well, while maintaining near accurate skin tones and natural contrast. The main sensor captures richer and more lifelike colours compared to the previous generation, while the ultra-wide lens holds its sharpness right to the edges.

Hasselblad’s influence shows up subtly but effectively in how the images balance highlights and shadows, creating a tone that feels authentic rather than over-processed. Portraits, in particular, have that distinctive Hasselblad character with soft background separation, fine detail, and colour that feels cinematic.

ColorOS 16

The Find X9 Pro debuts with ColorOS 16.

Pro debuts with ColorOS 16, and it feels like OPPO’s most refined software yet. The UI looks cohesive and deliberate, with smooth transitions and a layout that feels less cluttered than before. However, it’s a design sensibility that reminds you of iOS 26’s Liquid Glass look.

That said, it is fast, fluid and responsive. Also, OPPO’s system continues to stand apart with its deep customization options, from dynamic wallpapers and icon packs to gesture controls that feel tuned for large-screen use.

Performance-wise, the system feels snappy. App launches are near-instant, memory management is efficient, and animations glide smoothly across the screen. What stands out most is the consistency. Everything from the lock screen to multitasking feels like it has been built from the same visual grammar. It is not just software refinement but a sign that OPPO’s hardware and software teams are finally in perfect sync.

Early Impressions

Find X9 Pro combines a sleek, practical design with camera hardware that genuinely raises the bar for mobile photography. Add to that the power of ColorOS 16 and thoughtful additions like the Snap Key, Quick Button, and comprehensive IP protection, and you get a phone that feels engineered for users who expect both style and substance. We are looking forward to explore more aspects of this phone such as the performance and battery life and will be sharing our final thoughts in our review soon.
