EV Car At Around Rs 4 Lakh? PMV EaS-E, Possibly India’s cheapest EV, Said to Launch Next Month

Electric Vehicles have been gaining a lot of popularity in India in recent times. We are witnessing more people showing interest in EVs both in the two-wheeler as well as in the four-wheeler segment. Since India is a price-sensitive market, affordable products always catch everyone’s eye.

A couple of days back an upcoming Electric Car from PMV Electric, which is a Mumbai-based start-up with a possible price tag of Rs 4 lakh was in the news. For context, most of the EVs in India India costs around Rs 10 lakh. Now, we have more details and clarity about the upcoming affordable EV along with the launch timeline, charging, seating option, range, design details and much more. This could possibly be one of the cheapest EVs in India.

PMV EaS-E Micro Electric Car To Launch in July

In an interaction with Financial Express, PMV Electric’s founder, Kalpit Patel has shared details of the upcoming car. The upcoming PMV EaS-E Micro Electric Car will be a two-seater and the company is planning to launch the vehicle in India in July. The car is in the final prototype stage and it is still far away from being production-ready.

Further, as for the design of the car, the PMV EaS-E will come with a unique design in India. It is said to resemble the Citroen AMI and the MG E200 to a certain extent. To the front, the car will come with a horizontal strip of LED DRLs that run across the length of the bonnet while the circular headlamps are positioned below on the bumper. It will run on 13-inch wheels. On the side, the PMV EaS-E will feature a large glass area, multi-spoke alloys and four doors 一 however, it will have two seats only. Coming to the rear, the car will sport LED taillamps.

The EaS-E will be powered by a 10 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery paired with a 15 kW (20bhp) PMSM electric motor. The torque detail is yet to be revealed. But, the car will have a top speed of 70 kmph 一 which is decent, at least on paper. As for the range of the car, on a single charge, the car is rated to last anywhere from 120 km to 200 km, depending on the variant. It will be available in three variants. A full charge will take about 4 hours with its 3kW AC charger and the car will measure 2,915 mm in length, 1,157 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height.

The EV will have a wheelbase of 2,087 mm with a ground clearance of 170 mm and the kerb weight of the EV will be around 550 kg. In terms of features, the PMV EaS-E will come with a touchscreen infotainment system, a USB charging port, AC, cruise control, seat belts, rear parking cam, remote keyless entry and parking assist.

As for the driving modes, the EV will offer an EaS-E mode for feet-free driving in traffic. In this mode, one can drive forward with the press of “+” up to the speed of 20 kmph and brake by pressing “-” on the steering mounted controls. Lastly, the

The pre-booking for PMV EaS-E is now open on the official site. Interested buyers can pre-book with a Rs 2,000 refundable deposit amount. The delivery for the same will start from Q2, 2023. The 2-seater EaS-E is expected to be priced around Rs 4 to 5 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 160 Kms Range variant.

The company is expected to launch its mid-spec and range-topping variants in India next month while the base variant might arrive later. The car will be available multiple colour options, as you can see from the images above.
