Blaupunkt Launches SonicQ QLED TV Series in India, Pushing Gaming and Big-Screen Value Into the Spotlight

Blaupunkt has introduced its new SonicQ QLED TV series in India, offering 55, 65 and 75-inch models starting at ₹32,999. The brand is positioning the lineup as a big-screen, value-driven alternative for users who want better motion handling, stronger sound output and a gaming-friendly experience without moving into premium-flagship price brackets. The SonicQ series features a 4K QLED panel with 1.1 billion colours, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, 120Hz MEMC and 80W quad speakers with Dolby Atmos, all of which are usually seen in more expensive mid-range LED and QLED segments.

For context, the affordable-QLED market has been active this quarter with multiple brands pushing higher refresh rates and gaming-oriented specs. What makes the SonicQ range notable is the combination of 120Hz MEMC, VRR and ALLM with a relatively aggressive starting price, placing it in the same zone where Xiaomi, Hisense and TCL have been trying to capture younger buyers who prioritise smooth motion for sports and gaming. With 550 nits brightness and Google TV 5.0 onboard, the SonicQ range is also meant to serve as an all-in-one OTT, gaming and everyday TV for households upgrading from older 43-inch or 50-inch non-QLED models.

From a user standpoint, the pitch is very clear: smoother sports, more fluid console gameplay and louder sound without needing a soundbar immediately. For buyers who watch a lot of cricket and football or own a PlayStation/Xbox/Switch, 120Hz MEMC and VRR support have become meaningful differentiators. The 80W stereo speaker setup is unusual in this segment, and for living rooms where a soundbar is not part of the initial budget, this becomes an important real-world benefit. Because these TVs run Google TV 5.0 with access to over 10,000 apps, setting up OTT profiles and maintaining content continuity is straightforward for multi-user households.

Long Term Plans

Strategically, this launch fits the long-term approach of SPPL (Blaupunkt's licensee in India), which has consistently targeted value-first customers across Kodak and Blaupunkt-branded televisions while doubling down on manufacturing expansion in Uttar Pradesh. With a third plant planned in Hapur, the company is signalling deeper commitments to scaling production and broadening its mid-range QLED footprint. For Blaupunkt, leaning into its German audio heritage and pairing it with trending specs like 120Hz MEMC is a way to keep the brand relevant in a category where differentiation is getting harder.

The broader industry trend is also shifting in favour of high-refresh TVs. Gamers are increasingly demanding 120Hz support, casual users want smoother sports playback, and QLED panels have become more accessible across price tiers. As AI-driven upscaling and panel tech improve, value QLEDs are becoming the default upgrade path for 55-inch buyers. Blaupunkt entering this space at ₹32,999 underscores how competitive this segment has become.

SonicQ series: Who Is It For?

For buyers evaluating the SonicQ range, a few things stand out. The 55-inch model at ₹32,999 will likely appeal to first-time QLED users and gamers looking for budget 120Hz support. The 65-inch and 75-inch models offer large-screen immersion at relatively accessible pricing compared to established players. Users should still consider room lighting, seating distance and whether soundbars or consoles will be added later, but the spec sheet is competitive for everyday OTT viewing, sports and gaming.

The SonicQ series is available starting today exclusively on Flipkart. MSP has not tested the SonicQ models yet, and we will be assessing the real-world motion handling, gaming performance, panel uniformity and sound output in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for a detailed review.
