Tech enthusiasts and critics in India are eagerly waiting for Honor’s comeback in the country. The company is confirmed to launch the Honor 90 as its first smartphone in India very soon. There have already been various speculations about the phone so far but now, HonorTech CEO Madhav Sheth has revealed some important Honor 90 details himself.

Honor 90 with Clean and Bloatware-free OS Experience Launch Soon

Madhav Sheth talked about the upcoming Honor 90 and the brand’s vision in general during a special episode of AskMadhav 2.0 on YouTube. It is a segment where Sheth answers some of the questions asked by fans on social media.

Sheth started off by answering probably the biggest question i.e. whether Honor smartphones will have Google apps. The answer is yes. He revealed Honor smartphones will come with Google apps and services as we get to see on other Android devices. The phones will ship with Android 13 which is currently the latest Android version.

The good thing is HonorTech is promising two years of Android OS upgrades and three years of security updates. This is undoubtedly lesser than what Samsung Galaxy devices get but can be improved in the future. Sheth further talked about the software experience that users can expect on Honor smartphones.

He revealed they are “only focusing on the applications and services that users use like Google Maps, Google Drive, or productivity apps and any other essential apps”. The phone will come with MagicOS 7.1 which is claimed to deliver a “smooth, stable, and non-intrusive user interface”. In short, the company is promising a clean and bloatware-free software experience.

In terms of hardware, Sheth only talked about the Honor 90 display. He said the phone will have a quad-curved AMOLED floating display which will also be durable. He is still keeping the majority of the details related to specifications under wraps for obvious reasons. Even the launch date has not been shared yet as Sheth only said Honor 90 will launch in India soon.

HonorTech recently revealed its plans to invest Rs 1,000 crore for the re-launch of Honor smartphones in India. It is hoping to capture a 5% smartphone market share and earn Rs 10,000 crore in revenue by December 2024. It has teamed up with Noida-based PSAV Global to become a 100% Indian joint venture (JV). The company also plans to begin local manufacturing of phones as early as the next year.

The Honor 90 is rumoured to cost between Rs 35,000 and Rs 45,000 in India. If true, the phone would be launching in a competitive price segment. Honor will have to battle with already popular phones like the Nothing Phone 2, iQOO Neo 7 Pro 5G, OnePlus Nord 3, and OnePlus 11R.
