The Vivo S2 is a smartphone that prioritises style over outright performance. Its premium design, vibrant AMOLED display, dependable battery life, and smooth software experience make it a compelling choice for users who value aesthetics and multimedia consumption. However, the average chipset, limited camera hardware, and relatively slow charging hold it back in a fiercely competitive segment. If design and display are your top priorities, the Vivo S2 won't disappoint. Otherwise, there are more well-rounded alternatives available under Rs 40,000.

Motorola has crafted a no-nonsense, well-rounded smartphone with the Edge 60 Fusion. Its display, stereo speakers, and battery make it a multimedia powerhouse, while the clean UI and capable cameras add value. However, app performance isnt the best, and it lags behind rivals in raw power. For better performance, the Nothing Phone (3a) is worth a look.

It also offers reliable performance that comfortably handles everyday tasks, paired with battery life that lasts through a full day with ease. The Motorola Edge 70 Max is one of the most well-rounded smartphones in its segment. It combines flagship-grade performance, an excellent Quad HD+ AMOLED display, outstanding battery life, fast wired and wireless charging, and a premium design into a compelling package. While the ultrawide camera, outdoor brightness, and software support policy leave some room for improvement, they aren't significant enough to overshadow its strengths. If you want a powerful smartphone that excels at both gaming and everyday use, the Edge 70 Max is an easy recommendation.

Its 10,001mAh battery sets a new benchmark for endurance, backed by fast charging and a surprisingly good display. Performance and cameras are clearly not the focus, but thats the point. If you want a phone that simply refuses to die and prioritises longevity over bragging rights, this is an easy recommendation under Rs 30,000.

The Vivo T4 5G stands out with its excellent battery life, solid display, and dependable performance for casual use. Its portrait camera shines, though low-light shots need work. While the software is stable and updated regularly, spammy notifications and limited long-term support may be off-putting. The mono speaker also underwhelms. Consider the iQOO Z10 for similar proposition yet speedier performance, the Nothing Phone (3a) for a cleaner UI, or the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion for a more balanced experience.

The iQOO Z10 offers a great mix of flagship-like features without breaking the bank. Its standout 7,300mAh battery delivers impressive real-world endurance, and performance remains smooth whether you're gaming or handling everyday tasks all without heating issues. However, photography lovers might be disappointed by the lack of an ultra-wide camera. If long battery life, strong performance, a vibrant display, and a premium design top your list, the iQOO Z10 is a solid pick at Rs 21,999. You can also explore options like the Vivo T4, Nothing Phone (3a), or the CMF Phone 2 Pro (higher storage variant) in the same range.

The Realme 15 Pro offers a solid all-round experience with minimal drawbacks. Despite missing a telephoto lens, its trio of 50MP cameras performs reliably in most scenarios, though colour inconsistency remains. Strong battery life, a refined design, and a great multimedia setup make it a dependable daily driver. The software is packed with useful features but let down by some bloatware. While everyday performance is smooth, rivals like the OnePlus Nord 5, the iQOO Neo 10, and POCO F7 offer more raw power.

The Tecno Camon 50 Ultra gets the fundamentals right with a strong emphasis on design, cameras, display quality, and battery life. Its premium build and versatile camera system make it a compelling option for users who prioritise everyday photography and multimedia. Performance isn't the strongest in the segment, and the limited implementation of the 144Hz refresh rate means it doesn't fully capitalise on its hardware. Overall, it delivers a well-balanced experience that focuses on practical strengths rather than outright performance.

The Realme P3 Pro delivers strong value with a vibrant quad-curved display, stereo speakers, and a massive 6,000mAh battery for all-day use. Performance is reliable, and its glow-in-the-dark design is eye-catching, though the appeal may fade. The primary camera is decent but struggles in complex shots, and Realme UI 6 comes with spammy apps. If you prioritize battery and cameras, the Vivo T3 Pro is a better pick, while the Nothing Phone (2a) offers a cleaner software experience.

The Vivo V60 impresses with its excellent Zeiss-optimized camera, superior battery life, rugged IP68/IP69 durability, and reliable software support, making it ideal for users valuing consistent photography and longevity. The Vivo V50 feels like a familiar sequelsimilar to the Vivo V40 but with some fresh upgrades. Vivo's "if it aint broke, dont fix it" approach works here. While not a radical change, the V50 surprised with its sleek design and solid improvements. The display and build feel premium, and though I feared dropping it due to the glossy/matte finish, I didnt have to test my luck. ZEISS cameras improve photo quality, and at Rs 34,999, its a good deal for photography. Battery life easily lasts over a day and a half with heavy use. If you're on the Vivo V40, skip the upgrade. But if your phones older, the V50 is a strong choicejust dont expect mind-blowing performance.

The Motorola G85 brings a sleek design, a curved pOLED display, outstanding battery life, and impressive speaker performance. For those who appreciate a stylish phone, Motorola has ensured that this device caters to their needs. With a curved screen offering vibrant, punchy colours, it's a standout option in the sub-Rs 20,000 range. On the camera front, it captures social media-ready photos, though they may appear artificial. While the phone can handle demanding tasks without issue, it does tend to heat up after extended use. If you're after a phone with a clean and straightforward software experience, this one checks all the right boxes.

The OnePlus 13 aims to reclaim the brands crown with a flagship that checks all the boxes. While the design sees minor refinements, it looks more sophisticated, and the 6,000mAh battery sets a new benchmark. The Snapdragon 8 Elite delivers impressive performance, excelling in high-intensity gaming with better heat management than rivals like iQOO 13 and Realme GT 7 Pro. The Realme 16 Pro+ is a classic case of a phone that knows what it wants to be. It looks premium, lasts forever on a charge, and delivers genuinely impressive cameras, especially for portraits and everyday photography. The bright AMOLED display is a joy for content, even if its 144Hz promise feels underused. Where it stumbles is raw performance and gaming. At Rs 40,000, its not the all-rounder, but for camera lovers and heavy users, it still makes a strong case.

The OnePlus 11R is an excellent choice for everyday users. The reliable battery, striking display, and other features make it a good package. However, if you do gaming a lot, the iQOO 9T would be a better choice. The primary camera of the OnePlus 11R is also great, but the ultra-wide-angle camera could have been slightly better.

The Realme GT 6 packs numerous features, such as AI enhancements for improved efficiency, a reliable telephoto camera, a stunning curved display with a peak brightness of 6000 nits, and a robust chipset that delivers strong performance. With competitors like the Poco F6 and Xiaomi 14 CIVI offering the same chipset, the Realme GT 6 faces stiff competition in the Indian market.
Yet, the Realme GT 6 stands out with its innovative features. Thus, it is a versatile device that excels in many areas despite minor inconveniences.

The Vivo V40 is a nice all-rounder phone, which happens to be a looker and has a good set of cameras. The phones battery life is exceptionally good and if the bloatware apps dont feel like a hindrance, the phone is safely a good choice for a starting price of Rs 34,999.

The Tecno Pova Curve 2 focuses on core strengths such as design, display quality, and battery life, all within a relatively slim form factor. Its power management allows for nearly two days of regular use, while HiOS 16 adds practical features that improve day-to-day usability. That said, the Dimensity 7100 chipset holds it back in the mid-range space, particularly for users who prioritise performance or gaming. The camera setup also feels limited without an ultra-wide lens, and slow charging reduces the convenience of the large battery. Overall, the Pova Curve 2 gets the basics right, but stronger performance and a more flexible camera system would have made it a more competitive mid-range option.

Keeping aside the fancy camera jargon, theres very little the S23 Ultra does to go wild. Instead, it plays safe and to its strengths, with a reliable processor, a fantastic camera system and one of the best battery backups of a flagship smartphone. Yes, it couldve done with faster charging and Wi-Fi 7, but this is what peak Android looks like in 2023.
